Tanya Stepanova, St. Petersburg
«It was an amazing 2.5 weeks in Erding (Germany)!
PRACTICE.
This internship opened up a different level of dentistry to which I can and should aspire.
I was assigned to an incredible mentor to a doctor whose clinic provides all types of dental services, with the exception of orthodontics.
I went almost every day from the beginning to the end of the working day, with the exception of a couple of times when I asked for leave on excursions. Although the doctor was ready to let me go as long as I want.
The attitude of the clinic staff to me, to each other, to patients, as well as patients to doctors, simply amazed me.
Everything is done with the highest level of respect.
The doctor introduced me to each patient, told me about all his actions, answered any questions, was always in touch with me and was ready to solve any issue that worried me at absolutely any time. At first, he began to give him assistance, and later even entrusted him to carry out the treatment on his own! (yes, yes, at first I also thought that in Germany they wouldn't let me see the patient at all)
He even taught the secrets of successful implantation, high-quality sutures, reading and calculating CT scans, and much more.
I felt like part of the family
A week later, the doctor, knowing that I was planning to be an orthodontist, arranged with a purely orthodontic clinic to see me for a few days. She became my second German family
If your idea of medicine, incl. dentistry, in Germany corresponds to the phrase "there is a level there!", you are 100% right. Equipment, materials, workplace organization, 6-handed work, paperwork, all seem perfect! There is definitely something to see and learn.
HOUSING AND FOOD.
Having paid 20,000 rubles on top, I asked to provide me with housing. And although it was planned to stay in a room, possibly with other program participants, in the end I was settled alone in a 4 * hotel with breakfast included (still in shock, how it happened, maybe I just got so lucky for some reason).
The clinics there have a legal break, at least from 12:00 to 13:00, in which we all had lunch together. And for me, all the times it was at the expense of the clinic.
